Still Life
à la Morandi
This still life was created during a lesson by Lydia Nederlof at the Lucasgilde. The focus of the class was to explore Giorgio Morandi’s color palette by mixing chalky, muted tones to capture a sense of absolute stillness and harmony.
The process was very straightforward: first, I blocked in the background and table surface, leaving the objects blank to establish the shapes. Then, I painted in the objects using earthy, pastel-like colors. A very nice study fitting for November, the final palette reflects the calm and quiet atmosphere of late autumn.
